Indoor skydiving vs. traditional skydiving

In the world of thrills, two experiences stand out: indoor skydiving and traditional skydiving. Let’s discover the fundamental differences between these two thrilling adventures.

Freefall team1. Indoor skydiving: a controlled experience

The indoor skydiving experience at RealFly Sion takes place in a specially designed simulator. Participants are supported by powerful air currents, offering the sensation of flying in complete safety. This experience takes place in a controlled environment accessible to all, offering a taste of freefall without the constraints of altitude and weather. Whatever the day’s weather conditions, the free-fall simulator lets you enjoy the activity in all circumstances. Enjoy the sensations without worrying about the weather in our wind tunnel!

Our freefall simulator is open to the whole family from the age of 5, which is not the case for skydiving.

2. Traditional skydiving

the authentic experienceTraditional skydiving involves an ascent by plane to high altitudes, followed by an actual freefall.Participants feel the adrenalin of jumping into the void and enjoy a spectacular panoramic view before the parachute opens for a gentle descent to the ground.

However, at Realfly Sion you have the view of the snow-capped mountains.Come and test the wind tunnel to discover our beautiful mountain panorama.

3. The major differences

Accessibility: Indoor skydiving is often more accessible, as it doesn’t require specific weather conditions and is suitable for a wider range of people. Indoor skydiving is accessible to children from the age of 5, whereas tandem skydiving is available from the age of 10.

Duration of experience: Indoor skydiving generally offers sessions of limited duration, while traditional skydiving can offer a longer experience, including ascent by plane.

Cost: Aircraft, pilot, fuel, flight clearance, parachute equipment and safety all come at a price. It costs 8x or even 12x the price of a RealFly flight to jump out of a plane.

As a bonus, our Bar Lounge “La Turbine” is at your disposal, offering a varied menu of drinks and snacks (pizzas, waffles, crepes, etc.) Come and relax after your day’s work, and watch the others get laid.

4. Safety and sensations

Safety:

The Sion indoor skydiving experience is governed by strict safety standards and meticulous control measures. The freefall simulators are designed with sophisticated safety features, and participants are assisted by experienced instructors throughout the experience. Every aspect, from equipment to pre-training, is rigorously checked to ensure optimum safety. This controlled, structured approach greatly minimizes the risks to participants.

On the other hand, traditional skydiving involves inherent risks, although these are managed and minimized by certified professionals. Despite strict safety protocols and regular inspections, the external environment and weather variables can introduce unforeseen elements. However, thanks to training and the right equipment, risks are mitigated, and accidents are extremely rare.

Sensations:

Indoor skydiving offers intense sensations concentrated in a short space of time. Participants feel an adrenaline rush from the very start of the experience, with total immersion in the flying environment. The power of the turbines creating the airflow gives the impression of floating in the air, providing sensations of freedom and weightlessness. This intense feeling of flight is condensed into the set duration of the session.

Traditional skydiving, on the other hand, offers a more spread-out experience, beginning with a climb in the plane and culminating in a freefall followed by the opening of the parachute. This experience offers a wider range of sensations, from the excitement of jumping into the void to the tranquillity of parachute descent, offering moments of contemplation of breathtaking scenery.

In short, indoor skydiving offers concentrated, controlled sensations in a specific environment, while traditional skydiving offers a variety of sensations over a longer period, including ascent, freefall and descent, incorporating elements of surprise linked to the outdoor environment.

Conclusion

In summary, indoor skydiving and traditional skydiving offer unique and captivating experiences. Each offers distinct advantages, whether in terms of control, accessibility, sensations or safety.

Ultimately, the choice between these two experiences depends on individual preferences, adrenaline-seeking behavior and budget.
