Formation Skydiving (FS)

Formation skydiving (FS) is an indoor and outdoor skydiving discipline.

Formation skydiving (FS) is an indoor and outdoor skydiving discipline where flyers maintain a belly position and build formations with their teammates. Formation skydiving (FS) is a common start for new competitors as it does not require a high level of skill. The competitions are divided into several categories: firstly by the number of people in each team – 4 or 8 – and secondly by their skill level.

Vertical Formation Skydiving (VFS)

Vertical Formation Skydiving (VFS) is a relatively recent discipline in the history of indoor and outdoor skydiving.

Like formation skydiving, vertical formation skydiving competitions are divided into several categories based on the number of participants (2 or 4) per team and skill level. However, the tricks are not performed on the stomach, but vertically (head up or head down). The participants are given a series of compulsory tricks and the goal is to perform them as quickly as possible over a 35-second period.

DYNAMIC FLYING

Dynamic flying (Dynamic-2way/Dynamic-4way) implies a notion of rapid and artistic flying.

Dynamic flying (Dynamic-2way/Dynamic-4way/Solo Speed) is very different from the other disciplines. It involves a notion of fluid and artistic flight, as well as speed. There are two categories based on the number of people in each team: Dynamic-2way (two team-mates) and Dynamic-4way (four team-mates) or Solo. Depending on the competition, flyers take part in speed rounds with compulsory moves or free rounds. Some competitions are based solely on speed rounds.

FREESTYLE

Freestyle is an artistic discipline. Flyers use horizontal and vertical flight axes to perform graceful choreographies.

The focus is on style rather than speed, although the 60-second time limit must not be exceeded. The number of rounds may vary. Each round is judged live by the judges, who use specific criteria to award scores. Freestyle has only one performer.
